Physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R), also referred to as physiatry, is a medical specialty concerned with diagnosis, evaluation, and management of persons of all ages with physical and/or cognitive impairment and disability. This specialty involves diagnosis and treatment of patients with painful or functionally limiting conditions, the management of comorbidities and co-impairments, diagnostic and therapeutic injection procedures, electrodiagnostic medicine, and emphasis on prevention of complications of disability from secondary conditions.There are 227 accredited and developing Physical Therapy Schools in USA. Within USA, there are 49 societies which are actively involved in working towards the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation .The U.S. News & World Report Doctor Finder has detailed profiles for 81 physiatrists in San Antonio, Texas. The most profitable Orthopedic and Spine Device Companies of the world related to physical medicine are located in Texas.

Physiatrists are trained in the rehabilitation of neurologic disorders, and in the diagnosis and management of impairments of the musculoskeletal (including sports and occupational aspects) and other organ systems, and the long-term management of patients with disabling conditions. Physiatrists provide leadership to multidisciplinary teams concerned with maximal restoration or development of physical, psychological, social, occupational and vocational functions in persons whose abilities have been limited by disease, trauma, congenital disorders or pain to enable people to achieve their maximum functional abilities.

 

Importance & Scope:

Physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R), also called physiatry, is the branch of medicine emphasizing the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disorders – particularly related to the nerves, muscles, bones and brain – that may produce temporary or permanent impairment.

Our aim is to collect researchers, students, industrialists and physiatrists belonging to the field of rehabilitation and to provide them a platform for discussion about recent developments in this field and showcasing of new products by industries.

Physical Medicine-2015 is an international platform for presenting research about latest trends and developments in the field of rehabilitation, contributes to the dissemination of knowledge in marketing for the benefit of both the academia and business. It will discuss about various fields related to physical medicine like chiropody, occupational therapy and pain management.

San Antonio is the 7th largest city in the United States of America and the 2nd largest city within the state of Texas, with a population of 1.33 million. Publicly supported schools include the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, the University of Texas at San Antonio, Texas A&M University–San Antonio, and the Alamo Community College District. The University of Texas at San Antonio is San Antonio's largest university.
