The city has one of the largest seaports in USA, and is also known as Charm City. The name Charm City has been given for improving the city\\\'s reputation. The city is located in the central area of the state. Baltimore was once a leading manufacturing center and later it became a service oriented economy. The Piedmont Plateau and the Atlantic Coastal Plain, divides Baltimore into lower and upper city. Baltimore city has a total area of 92.052 square miles. About 25% of the jobs in the Baltimore-region are science & technology and engineering. . Education in Baltimore is majorly on health and science which is a part attributed to john Hopkins University, university of Maryland-Baltimore and other institutes. Baltimore played an important role in the Second war of independence in defending British attack on Baltimore. That triumph for Baltimore was celebrated in a poem and is now their national anthem. Coming to climate the city falls under subtropical zone where the weather can vary day-by-day. By the end of 19th century trade has been replaced by manufacturing and made Baltimore an important industrial hub. The city continued to export excess amounts of food items, tobacco, and cotton to Europe which has the largest product value.
