Dermatology

As per available reports about 764 Conference Proceedings, 12 relevant journals, 24 Conferences, 82 National symposiums and about 240 articles related to Dermatology which are hosed by OMICS International.

Dermatology involves but is not limited to study, research, and diagnosis of normal and disorders, diseases, cancers, cosmetic and ageing conditions of the skin, fat, hair, nails and oral and genital membranes, and the management of these by different investigations and therapies, including but not limited to dermatohistopathology, topical and systemic medications, dermatologic surgery and dermatologic cosmetic surgery, immunotherapy, phototherapy, laser therapy, radiotherapy and photodynamic therapy. Dermatology is the medical specialty which focuses on the diagnosis of skin diseases and disorders. A physician who specialized in this field is called a dermatologist. Dermatologists identify and remove skin cancers, cysts, and other skin growths. They also help treat other skin issues such as acne, skin allergies, rashes, and abnormalities of the skin such as psoriasis, eczema, dandruff, dermatitis, and more. Many dermatologists also do some aesthetic, elective procedures such as laser treatments, anti-aging, botox injections, and collagen injections. Types: Cosmetic dermatology, Dermatopathology, Immunodermatology, Mohs surgery, Pediatric dermatology, Teledermatology.

Importance and Scope:
Disorders of the skin, hair, and nails fall within the remit of a dermatologist. The specialty is divided broadly into medical and surgical fields, with clinicians in secondary care often practising both. It should be noted that in some countries, training and practice in dermatology are combined with venerology. Dermatology is chiefly an outpatient specialty, and most patient referrals request an initial diagnosis and treatment of an unknown skin disease or review of more complex and chronic cases beyond the skill of the general practitioner. Many developing countries have no skin care specialists and referral is made difficult by distances and availability of travel funds. For example, South Africa has a ratio of 3 to 4 million people per dermatologist, who are usually located in urban areas. 21-87% of the population may be affected by some type of skin problem. Primary care providers are often unable to diagnose and treat skin disease; the economic burden of skin disease in the United States is large: approximately $35.9 billion.

The field of esthetic & cosmetic dermatology has gained remarkable interest all over the world. The major advantage of recent years is the high scientific levels of the most significant new developments in techniques and pharmacotherapy and other nonsurgical approaches like Laser resurfacing, Sclerotherapy, Soft tissue augmentation. With an aging population and increasing consumer awareness, demand for high-quality, innovative cosmeceutical products will be on the rise in 2014.

This study introduces the readers to most skin disorders, and some common procedures. However, as regards analysis, this study limits itself to prescription and therapeutic drugs for dermatological disorders. Cosmetic and aesthetic procedures, aging disorders, and wound care. BCC’s goal in conducting this study was to understand the current status of the US dermatological therapeutics industry and to assess it in the medium term from 2008 through 2013. We were particularly interested in understanding the future market potential for the current and emerging technologies and products within the dermatological therapeutics industry. This report assesses the available therapeutic procedures for skin, along with the drugs and technologies currently being used for various skin treatments. The role of public agencies, the regulatory environment, and non-governmental stakeholders has also been examined.
