Cancer vaccines boost the immune system's natural ability to recognize and destroy things that are foreign and potentially harmful to the body. A strong, healthy immune system is able to identify antigens (substances on the surface of cells that are not normally part of the body) and attack them, typically eliminating them. The immune system is then left with a “memory” that helps it respond to those antigens in the future. A cancer treatment vaccine takes advantage of the immune system’s response to antigens. Often, cancer cells have specific molecules on their surface that are not present on healthy cells. When injected into a person, these specific molecules act as antigens, which stimulate the immune system to recognize and destroy cancer cells that have these molecules on their surface. Most cancer vaccines also contain adjuvants.cancer vaccines are two types they are Preventive (or prophylactic) vaccines.

Cancer Vaccines Vaccines sometimes called vaccinations given to healthy people to help prevent infections, such as measles and chicken pox. Cancer vaccines work the same way, but they make the person immune system to attack cancer cells these vaccines use weakened or killed germs like viruses or bacteria to start an immune response in the body. Getting the immune system ready to defend against these germs helps keep people from getting infections. There are some vaccines that may actually help prevent certain cancers.
There are two types of cancer vaccines: prevention vaccines and treatment vaccines.
Preventive vaccines, they are intended to prevent cancer from developing in healthy people, and
Treatment vaccines, they are intended to treat an existing cancer by strengthening the body’s natural defenses against the cancer
Two types of cancer preventive vaccines are available in the United States and one cancer treatment vaccine has recently become available. For more Clinical trials are important for learning more about cancer vaccines. Vaccines are being tested for several cancers like
Bladder cancer
Brain cancer
Breast cancer
Cervical cancer
Colorectal cancer
Kidney cancer
Leukemia
Lung cancer
Melanoma
Myeloma
Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Pancreatic cancer
Prostate cancer
