Medical Reminder means remembering to take medication, it is a prospective memory task and as such it relies on a set of cognitive processes responsible for completing actions at some point in the future. There are two main types of prospective memory tasks: time-based tasks that need to be completed at a specified time (e.g. take medication at 9:00) or after a set period of time has elapsed (e.g. take antibiotics every 8 hours); and event-based tasks, where the task is linked to an existing event and the environment in which it takes place, e.g. taking medication with breakfast. Depending on individual circumstances, a medication regimen can be classified as either of these tasks

Scope and Importance
Failure to take medication as prescribed is one of the leading issues in heath care today. A class of applications designed to remind people to take their medication as prescribed. While there are quite a few medication reminder systems available, they all require the user to enter the data manually. To simplify the use of these applications, development of a system is presented in this paper that allows the user to take a picture of his/her prescription medication labels and have reminders automatically generated for them. The system is developed for Android OS powered mobile devices and it employs image processing and a concept analysis approach. The accuracy for parsing dosing instruction text from images of medication labels and creating reminder events is over 90%
Market Analysis
The global clinical decision support system market is estimated to cross $550 million by 2018, at a CAGR of close to 10.0% between 2013 and 2018. The rising budgetary pressure to reduce healthcare expenditures, growth in aging population, rising incidences of various diseases due to medication errors, growing need to integrate healthcare IT solutions, improved quality of care and clinical outcomes, and presence of favorable government initiatives are the significant factors propelling the growth of this market in the forecast period. However, rising incidences of data breach and loss of confidentiality, high maintenance and service expenses, shortage of trained IT professionals, and high cost of CDSS solutions are the factors that are hindering the market growth.
