Superconductivity

As per available reports about  35 relevant Journals, 30 Conferences, 14 National symposiums  are presently dedicated exclusively to superconductivity and about 2 articles are being published.

Superconductivity is the ability of certain materials to conduct electric current with practically zero resistance . This produces interesting and potentially useful effects. For a material to behave as a superconductor, low temperatures are required. Superconductors have been employed in, or proposed for use in, an enormous variety of applications. Examples include high-speed magnetic-levitation trains, magnetic-resonance-imaging (MRI) equipment, ultra-high-speed computer chips, high-capacity digital memory chips, alternative energy storage systems, radio-frequency ( RF ) filters, radio-frequency amplifiers, sensitive visible-light and infrared detectors, miniaturized wireless transmitting antennas, systems to detect submarines and underwater mines, and gyroscopes for earth-orbiting satellite s. The Josephson junction and the superconducting quantum interference device use superconductors.

The decrement of electrical resistivity of a metallic conductor occurs due to lowering of temperature. In ordinary conductors, this decrease is limited by defects and the impurities of the superconductors. A real sample of a normal conductor, even near absolute zero, shows some resistance. When the superconducting material is cooled below its critical temperature, the resistance drops abruptly to zero in a superconductor. An electric current flowing through a loop of superconducting wire can persist indefinitely with no power source.

Scope and Importance:

Superconductivity Conference provides the scope for opportunities to learn progressed by international scientists and academicians.Superconductivity is a phenomenon that occurs when a substance (typically metallic or ceramic) reaches its "critical temperature" (Tc) and loses all electrical resistance. This occurrence takes place at extremely low temperatures, which renders much of the scientific potential difficult to apply to real life situations.

Scientists are currently working on developing superconductors that are closer to room temperature, an improvement which would make superconductors much more important to everybody. Superconductors have the potential to carry an electric charge across an infinite distance without losing any energy whatsoever, and also block out magnetic fields because of the Meissner Effect. If controlled in room temperature, it would be possible to transport electricity from a power plant on Earth to a residential area on Mars, create lightning-fast computer circuits with no resistance, develop weapons such as quickly-reloadable rail guns, and transportation possibilities such as biohazard-free levitating trains.
