Virosome

As per available reports about 36 Relevant Journals, 40 Conferences, 30 Workshops are presently dedicated exclusively to drug and about 1699 Articles are being published on Virosomes

A Virosome is a drug or vaccine delivery mechanism consisting of unilamellar phospholipid membrane (either a mono- or bi-layer) vesicle incorporating virus derived proteins to allow the virosomes to fuse with target cells. Virosomes are not able to replicate but are pure fusion-active vesicles. It is the reconstituted membrane of an enveloped virus. Many viruses are surrounded by a membrane, or envelope, that is derived from a membrane of the host cell; these viruses are produced by budding from a host cell membrane. The envelope thus contains lipids of the host cell and viral proteins. These viral proteins have a function in binding to new host cells, and in inducing fusion of a membrane of the new host cell with the viral membrane.

Scope and Importance:

The study scope includes DNA vaccine products that are commercial or likely to be commercialized within the next five years. Both human and animal health markets are studied. DNA vaccine delivery technologies are also included. DNA vaccine candidates in clinical trials are examined by indication, and future market growth from 2014 through 2019 is estimated. The role that DNA vaccines play in the overall vaccines industry is examined, as well as how the vaccine industry structure and dynamics are changing. We examine DNA synthesis, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals firms, strategic industry alliances, and the role of gene delivery and synthesis technologies. The major markets for DNA vaccines, including infectious diseases, cancers, animal health, allergies and biodefense, are analyzed, and the main companies in these fields are highlighted.

A drug is in the broadest of terms, a chemical substance that has known biological effects on humans or other animals. Foods are generally excluded from this definition, in spite of their physiological effects on animal species. In pharmacology, a drug is "a chemical substance used in the treatment, cure, prevention, or diagnosis of disease or used to otherwise enhance physical or mental well-being. “Drugs may be used for a limited duration, or on a regular basis for chronic disorders. Recreational drugs are chemical substances that affect the central nervous system, such as opioids or hallucinogens. Alcohol, nicotine, and caffeine are the most widely consumed psychotropic drugs worldwide.

A drug is any chemical you take that affects the way your body works. Alcohol, caffeine, aspirin and nicotine are all drugs. A drug must be able to pass from your body into your brain. Once inside your brain, drugs can change the messages your brain cells are sending to each other, and to the rest of your body. They do this by interfering with your brain's own chemical signals: neurotransmitters that transfer signals across synapses.

A drug is a chemical substance that can change how your body and mind work. Drugs of abuse are substances that people use to get high and change how they feel. They may be illegal drugs like pot, cocaine, or heroin. Or they may be legal for adults only, like alcohol and tobacco. Medicines that treat illness can also become drugs of abuse when people take them to get high not because they're sick and following their doctor's orders. People can even abuse cough or cold medicines from the store if they ignore the directions and take too much at one time.

Market Analysis:

The U.S. constituted approximately 59% of the total drug delivery market in 2010 and was $78 billion. It is forecast to reach nearly $103 billion in 2016 at a CAGR of 4.7%. Europe contributed about 27% of the total drug delivery market in 2010 and was $36 billion and is expected to grow to $49 billion by 2016 at a CAGR of 5.6%. Given its predicted annual growth the market represents a considerable business opportunity, which has been reflected in the increasing number of drug delivery specialists. The global market for drug delivery systems in 2010 was $131.6 billion and is expected to rise at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5% and reach nearly $175.6 billion by 2016.
