Sustainable “Green construction” design and construction is the opportunity to use our resources more efficiently, while creating healthier and more energy-efficient homes. Although there is no magic formula, success comes in the form of leaving a lighter footprint on the environment through conservation of resources, while at the same time balancing energy-efficient, cost-effective, low-maintenance products for our construction needs. In other words, green building design involves finding the delicate balance between homebuilding and the sustainable environment. Green construction refers to a structure and using process that is environmentally responsible and resource-efficient throughout a building's life-cycle: from siting to design, construction, operation, maintenance, renovation, and demolition. This requires close cooperation of the design team, the architects, the engineers, and the client at all project stages. The Green Building practice expands and complements the classical building design concerns of economy, utility, durability, and comfort. Green Construction is one of the sub track under Civil & Environmental Engineering track in OMICS group conference.Topics like: Building information modeling,Cold formed steel, Sustainable Steel Construction are of interest.
OMICS International Organizes 1000+ Global Events Every Year across USA, Europe & Asia with support from 1000 more scientific societies and Publishes 700+ Open access journals which contains over 100000 eminent personalities, reputed scientists as editorial board and organizing committee members. Scope & Importance:
Although new technologies are constantly being developed to complement current practices in creating greener structures, the common objective is that green buildings are designed to reduce the overall impact of the built environment on human health and the natural environment by:
Green building practices aim to reduce the environmental impact of building. The first rule is that the greenest building is the building that doesn't get built. Since construction almost always degrades a building site, not building at all is preferable to green building, in terms of reducing environmental impact. The second rule is that every building should be as small as possible. The third rule is not to contribute to sprawl, even if the most energy-efficient, environmentally sound methods are used in design and construction. Urban infill sites are preferable to suburban "greenfield" sites.
Market Analysis:
The Canada green building market is vigorous and growing, according to the findings of this study, conducted by McGraw Hill Construction in partnership with the Canada Green Building Council. over half (56%) of the Canadian respondents to the industry survey report that over 30% of the projects they build are currently green, and by 2017, 70% expect to be doing at least that level of green construction, with 50% reporting that more than 60% of their projects will be green. This suggests that the share of green building in Canada’s construction market is likely to see significant increases, creating strong opportunities for firms in this market that can capitalize effectively on this shift. The construction industry of UAE witnessed construction contract awards to the tune of USD 40 billion in 2012, which is expected to increase to USD 50 billion by 2015, with bulk of the projects likely to be awarded over 2014 and 2015. Construction sector as a percentage of GDP of the UAE reached 10.5% in 2009 and 10.25% in 2011 while for 2015 and 2020 the sector’s contribution as a percentage of UAE GDP is projected to record 11.1% and 11.45% respectively. According to global market analysis, in 2014, the industry is expected to generate revenue of approximately 156.12 billion U.S. dollars. According to statistical record, in 2013 most of the regions including North America, South America, South Africa, MENA faced a growth of 4.5%, 5.0%, 6.0% and 5.5% respectively in construction Industry. That year revenue generated by global construction industry was around 124.69 billion USD.
